The Cost of Caring for Rescued Dogs
Taking dogs on a weekly basis from the pound is a financial nightmare.
Every dog has to be neutered, vaccinated and wormed.
Because we do not have kennels of our own we use foster homes or private kennels.
Even if we get preferential rates for kenneling it still costs us a great deal.
Many of the dogs we rescue from the pound fall sick. This is due to the fact many dogs have never been vaccinated by their owners and of course whilst in contact with other dogs they are highly susceptible to contract diseases.
As all dog owners will know any veterinary treatment is very expensive.
Dog's who contracts Parvo virus costs us on average €350 per dog.
Every dog needs to be fed. We have to provide our fosterers with that food.
Transport within Ireland and to the UK is also a major cost to us.
Volunteers transporting dogs for us do it at their cost.
So the the only way we can cover these costs are through generous donations from the public.
Dogs also need grooming, washing and bedding
Costs of phone calls when organizing transport, new homes and other miscellaneous costs.

How YouCan Help
You can donate whatever you can afford through PayPal
You can offer transport for dogs needing to be transported to rescue centers, fosterers or kennels. Transport is usually required all around ireland. People very often work in a chain of transport to help get a dog across the country, you may not be based in Dublin but you could help with transport by being a part of one of these 'Chains'
You can foster a dog while we find rescue spaces or forever homes for them. Fosterers are the most valued commodity, if you feel you what it takes to foster then please contact Marie on 086 2573180. Fosterers save lives as any dogs going to overseas rescues need to have 2/3wks foster before they can travel to allow neutering and vaccinations.
You can set up a direct debit through your bank and pay whatever amount no matter how small on a monthly basis to help cover medical, food and other other costs. You can find our bank details here
If you have towels, pillows, blankets and sheets, these items are always welcome to give these dogs a cozy bed to sleep in on the cold nights.
If you live near an Animal Rescue Center you can volunteer some time to help with the cleaning, walking and socializing the dogs while they await placement with their forever homes.
Insure your dogs are neutered/spayed to prevent unwanted puppies.
Organize fundraising, community awareness, school projects and anything you think might help to reduce the suffering of innocent animals |
